About International Community School Singapore (ICS)

International Community School Singapore is the only Singapore American school teaching within a Christian framework.

ICS Singapore consists of more than 400 students from 29 different nationalities around the world. The diversity of our student body is just one of the reasons learning at ICS is so special. Our students engage in deep dialogue about the complex world we live in and gain real-world insights from the cultures around them. Out of the top private schools in Singapore, ours is the only one whose Biblical framework positively affects every aspect of a student’s education.

Our teachers view each child as a unique individual created by God and care for each one with such insight, no matter the individual’s personal faith. One way our students experience Biblical teaching is through our annual community service trips which partner with non-profit organizations throughout Southeast Asia and broaden our students’ worldview.

On the academic front, 80% of our graduates attend US universities. According to our annual alumni survey, our graduates feel that ICS has equipped them well for the rigors of university academics and has given them the skills necessary to achieve success in whatever field of study they choose. As an Advanced Placement school, we offer students flexibility and work with the individual student's needs, dreams, gifts, and abilities.

Overall

We initially had high hopes when we sent our daughter to this school. Pros: - School curriculum is well balanced and has many good ideas. - Some of the staff are friendly is do try their best to be positive. Cons: - Toxic culture of student to student bullying with many terrible and disturbing incidents occurring or later revealed to us (affecting many other students beyond just my daughter). These incidents sadly revealed the teachers and school to be shockingly resigned/accepting, slow to react and at a loss of what to do when confronted with the issues. - Despite claiming to be able to deal with neurodiverse students (eg. ADHD), the actual reality reveals that many of the teachers when faced with it to be negative, impatient and ill-trained to handle such students despite low student to teacher ratio - My daughter started hiding in the toilet longer and longer to avoid the classes and the environment she was facing. In reaction, she was barred from coming to school and many sudden requirements were thrown up and demanded from us (that would require a good amount of time to resolve) as conditions for her to return. This would have meant that she would miss school and all of her lessons for weeks (essentially missing the rest of the term) when easier solutions were possible or could be explored. - The impression at the end they gave to my wife and I was they were perhaps concerned that people would not follow through with administrative effort to handover all the necessary items and matters. Hence they started by misleading us by claiming there is a refund but once the handover process is done and completed, they then backtracked and told us there is actually no refund based on the terms. Based on all our exchanges, we were tactful and polite through all of our dealings with the school and we are not the type that would normally be difficult or complain unreasonable but now we just want to share our experience. In summary, my daughter suffered terribly from the year she was at this school and now is in another school with a more welcoming and inclusive student culture and is thankfully now thriving.

There is a focussed and strategic approach to integrate a sound moral worldview to their approach to a sound education. There is a distinct recognition that a solid educational foundation is not just expressed through academic excellence, but a good approach to ethics and wholistic development. Furthermore, the school is committed to building a strong community between students, teachers and parents. The small class sizes promote relationships between students of lower and higher grades, as well as between students and their teachers. I cannot say enough to promote this school as a good consideration for international schools in Singapore.

All 3 of my kids graduated from ICS, and said their first year of university was easier than their senior year at ICS! They were extremely prepared for university academics! And the added bonus of being able to participate in the many athletic programs was fantastic! Excellent school!

I have 3 children who attend ICS. The teacher are amazing when it comes to individual learning styles. My children benefit from the small class sizes. The community at ICS is so welcoming, everyone know you on campus. It is very evident the teachers and staff are taking the time to invest in my children's lives. We could not be more pleased.
