Education in Italy

As you would expect, public schools in Italy will be taught in Italian. If you are planning to be in Italy for the long term this may be an attractive option to immerse your children in the language. For those who may be temporarily in Rome, an international school will likely be the preferred option where a curriculum can be taken that can be continued in almost any country.

If learning Italian is important, many international schools offer a bilingual education and may be better catered to ease children into the language without disrupting their overall education.

Kendale Primary International School

Ages

4 to 11

Description

Kendale Primary International School was established in 1972. The school has a long history of high academic achievement and prepares its pupils for both international and Italian middle schools. The classes, ranging from beginning primary (4 -5 years) to 5th Grade (Year 6), are small with an average of 10-14 students per class.

Kendale offers the joy of learning and working in a cohesive community where the efforts and contributions of all those involved are appreciated and valued. A community where there is an emphasis, not only on important scholastic goals and high behavioural expectations but also on creativity and, amongst others, the values of kindness, empathy, caring and sharing. In order to maintain a cooperative group ethic, opportunities are regularly provided for classes to interact with other age groups. Within these groups each individual is nurtured and respected so that they grow in confidence and self-esteem.

The personalised approach to learning leads to a constant flow of visits from ex-students, many of whose parents were themselves pupils at the school. Ex-Kendalians around the world maintain a connection with their peers many years after leaving. This connection is in line with our school motto: ONCE A KENDALIAN; ALWAYS A KENDALIAN!

Description

Little Genius International SpA SB is a school for digital natives that has been providing a high academic level to its students for over 10 years, recognized nationally and internationally. It is also known as BCorp (among the 10 best in the world-best in Italy 2017) for its social impact starting from the bio-architecture structure in which it is located.

The ICE® Methodology challenges the current educational systems regarding the application of teaching methods and the knowledge taught within it, rejecting the certainty and directional uniqueness of traditional teaching methods, also in relation to the content of the subjects taught.

Our teachers evaluate the decision to start teaching activities such as reading and writing based on the skills of our students in these two activities. For most of our students the reading and writing programs start between 3 and 4 years of age and are complementary to each other, emphasizing the pleasure of these activities without any competition between one child and another in in terms of skill. It is also for this reason that at Little Genius International it is not recommended to skip an entire school year, as the program is sufficiently stimulating.

Core International School Rome was founded in 1983 and is staffed by qualified, experienced British teachers.

The school began in a small way and although it has grown over the last thirty years we have been able to maintain the original familiar atmosphere where children of many nationalities, cultures and religious backgrounds, learn to live and work together in harmony.

The school policy is to keep classes small, about 16 children in each class, so that each child receives individual attention and is encouraged to reach his or her full potential.
All lessons are conducted in English and emphasis is placed on children acquiring a sound understanding of the three basic skills, whilst learning in a creative environment.
