Castelli International School Rome (CIS) is a private, independent day elementary and middle school, founded in 1977 situated a few kilometers south of Rome. It offers a challenging and successful programme which integrates our Elementary, the Cambridge Lower Secondary curricula, with the Italian Ministerial one.
English is the primary language of the school. Castelli’s highly qualified longstanding faculty is committed to delivering a holistic education and to developing inquisitive, caring, ethically minded individuals who will make a positive impact towards creating a sustainable global society. Students, coming from all over the world, are prepared for international and national high schools and go on to study at universities to then pursue successful careers. Small classes surrounded by nature and the hands-on approach hold true to the Chinese proverb: “When I hear, I forget. When I see, I remember. When I do, I understand.”

We enrolled our son but knew after 3 weeks that it was not the right school for us. After a short time it was clear that the school works with "behaviourist" methods such as rewards (points/stickers etc e.g. when eating lunch silently or when eating up). This is considered "mindful eating" and punishments (e g. time-outs/sitting on steps if children do not "behave" or when they speak their mother tongue during the break/recess (only English allowed). Through this constant rewarding children are constantly in competition with each other.
As a former student I couldn't wait to give my own children the chance to grow up in this special place. I was so impressed to figure out Castelli has not changed over the decades. When it comes to its core values, to the high academic standards, to the beautiful and joyful cross-cultural environment kids benefit from every day, Castelli really is unparalleled. Students well-being is a taught and learned subject, that gives you the idea of how much the school is centered on a conscious and mindful upbringing. Special note goes to faculty members and surroundings. This school, which I have called home for many years, will always have a special place in my heart bringing up so many precious memories of a happy childhood, and... so many more to come.
My children have been at Castelli International School since the age of 6. They enjoy being part of the school where they work hard but also have time to spend in the garden of the campus, getting some air and playing with other students. Teachers and staff members are well prepared, engaging and caring towards each student. This is an excellent international school in the Castelli area, and I highly recommend it.
Scuola perfetta, integra esperienze diversificate internazionali con il programma ministeriale italiano, ambiente stimolante multietnico. Secondo lo stile anglosassone i ragazzi imparano facendo non solo studiando. I miei figli della loro esperienza a Castelli.

We were thrilled to have our two elder children go to this wonderful school many years ago and highly recommend it. Debbie and Art DeLorenzo. We would love to hear from Marianna or Giovanni at [email protected]

Castelli is a wonderful school that nurtures children from the age of 5 to 14, teaching them English, science, maths, music, art, geography.... the whole spectrum of subjects, but more importantly the school teaches their children to think, be confident and care about each other and the planet. What's more the school is high above Rome's smog and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Great staff, nice parents and amazing kids
