How would you rate Hamelin-Laie International School?
There is no denying that the school has beautiful facilities and it should be noted it was recently purchased by a UK education group, Nord Anglia, and with it, a new corporate mindset. Not the same school as it used to be. Teacher turnover is extremely high, they even leave during the academic school year. The concern for the new owner is about the money and not the student. There are better academically challenging schools in Barcelona but Hamelin is convenient for those that live in Maresme and want their kids to continue their education in Spain, not abroad. It’s a popular school for Spanish parents who want their kids to learn English. If a native English speaker, consider going elsewhere. Report card comments in English by the teachers are written at a primary school level. Embarrassing. It's the equivalent of a restaurant with a nice interior (facilities) but the food (academics)) are not commendable.
It is an school with only material values, in recent years it has grown to 5 lines per course, which makes close monitoring of each student not possible. Low teacher salaries makes teacher turnover very high each year. The level of teachers in some subjects is very low because they don't even have the qualification to practice as teachers. By the way, the food is horrible and expensive, 220€ per month. You have to pay absolutely for all kind of things. Is a factory of money with not values.
