About International School of Lyon (ISL)
The International School of Lyon (ISL) is a value-driven school: everything we do is linked to our Vision, Mission and Values as laid out below. We look forward to discussing them – and how we strive to achieve them on a daily basis – with you soon.
The school is housed in purpose-built facilities in its own grounds in a residential suburb just south west of Lyon city centre. The building was designed in the 1970s for a French middle school (collège) and includes three science laboratories, two art rooms, a large music room, a library, and two ICT suites. Rooms are light and spacious and grouped in clusters.
Primary and Secondary school each have their own area, including separate ICT facilities , but share the library and the art and music rooms. The school has a small gym, but many sports activities take place outdoors in a local stadium or in the public gym and swimming pool of the neighbouring districts. The outdoor premises include a primary playground, a soccer/basketball field, a small amphitheatre and a beautiful alley of protected chestnut trees.

How would you rate International School of Lyon (ISL)?
It's the only good school you can find in Lyon. The building is old and lacks certain facilities, but the quality of education and teachers is good.
Despite the great educational system (IB ), there are long holiday periods and no services/supports for families such as canteen, childcare, summer camp, common in private schools with high fees...

They saved what little Spark of happiness my son still had after attending another horrible, international private school in Lyon. I am so thankful for the short time he attended this school.

depsite being based around the great educational system of the IB diploma, this form of education is not well executed. in addition, the lack of resources provided for the student causes student life to be quite unforgiving, especially for the high price needed to pay. Despite all this, the teachers are quite good, even if they are overstaffed, due to the small size of the school.

If you are American and plan to return to the states Do NOT send your children to this school , my two children attended the school for two years and upon our return to US they were behind two grade levels, behind their peers in every subject area, according to the IB they attend in the states. I picked this school intentionally for the transferability of the IB program. Finding out now that it has zero standards, especially for the appropriate grade level. It’s was a horrible waste of time and money, which has left me in utter shock, disappointment and my children being retained! Devastating!
