American Creativity Academy (ACA) is a private school in Hawalli, Kuwait, founded in 1997 by a group of founders who set out to combine an American curriculum with the country's cultural and religious values. Today it serves more than 3,500 students with around 350 staff, from Pre-KG (age 3) to Grade 12. Most students are Arab nationals born in Kuwait whose first language is Arabic, so English is taught as the language of instruction from Pre-KG while Arabic and Islamic studies continue through every grade. The school operates two campuses a few minutes apart: the Boys' Campus, which also houses the co-educational kindergarten, and the Girls' Campus on Al Muthana Street, with more than 1,250 girls in Grades 1-12. From Grade 1 upward, boys and girls are taught separately. The academic programme is standards-based and American in design, with an Enrichment Program in Grades 2-8, Honors courses in Grades 9-10 and the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11-12, offered since 2008; every student must take at least one IB course before graduating. ACA is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA), is an IB World School, and is affiliated with NESA, ECIS, AAIE and the College Board. It is a founding member of the Kuwait Schools Activities Association. The school year runs from September to June, with classes held Sunday to Thursday and a maximum of 24 students per class from Grade 1.

ACA covers Pre-KG to Grade 12. The kindergarten (Pre-KG for age 3, KG1 for age 4 and KG2 for age 5) is co-educational, with around 25 classes and an American early childhood curriculum taught with Arabic and Islamic studies. Elementary (Grades 1-5), middle school (Grades 6-8) and high school (Grades 9-12) follow a standards-based American curriculum on separate boys' and girls' campuses. High school students take core courses with Honors options in Grades 9-10, then choose standard courses, individual IB courses or the full IB Diploma in Grades 11-12.

Information about languages of the American Creativity Academy
English is the language of instruction from Pre-KG onward. Because almost all students are Arab nationals whose first language is Arabic, the school considers its entire student body English language learners and provides ESL support from KG to Grade 5. Arabic language and Islamic studies are taught from Pre-KG to Grade 12, and high school students also take Quran. In the IB Diploma, Arabic Language and Literature can lead to a bilingual diploma, and Spanish and French are offered at ab initio level; foreign language electives are also available in Grade 10.

ACA has been authorised to offer the IB Diploma Programme since September 2008 for Grades 11 and 12, and all students must complete at least one IB course before graduating. Students choose between the full Diploma, with six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, or individual IB course certificates alongside the standard American high school programme. Subjects listed include English and Arabic Language and Literature (the latter allowing a bilingual diploma), Spanish and French ab initio, Economics, Global Politics, History, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics and Visual Arts. Preparation begins with the Enrichment Program (Grades 2-8) and Honors courses (Grades 9-10). Students also sit the PSAT and SAT.

Information about extracurricular activities of the American Creativity Academy
ACA is a founding member of the Kuwait Schools Activities Association (KSAA), competing since 2003 at U14, JV and Varsity level in volleyball, basketball, badminton, football and track and field, as well as in Academic Games and Model United Nations. Students must meet academic and behaviour standards to represent the school teams, known as the Panthers. In elementary school, free after-school clubs cover sports, arts and crafts, languages and academics, and Grades 3-5 play intramural sports at lunchtime. Middle school options include clubs, a science fair, Quran competitions, student council, MUN and an annual Grade 8 trip to Istanbul.

The school does not provide its own transport; parents can contract a bus company directly. Students in Grades 1-12 wear the official ACA uniform, sold through the school. The Girls' Campus has a large cafeteria, a nurses' office and 24-hour security at reception. Counselors and Child Study Teams support students, with college counseling in high school. MAP testing in autumn and spring helps teachers group students and differentiate teaching. Parents follow grades through the PlusPortals system, and the school also works with Sylvan Learning for supplementary tutoring.

ACA runs two campuses in Hawalli. The Boys' Campus has separate buildings for the kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools, classrooms equipped with smartboards and a regulation-size artificial-turf football pitch. The Girls' Campus has a reception area with 24-hour security, an auditorium, a large cafeteria, two libraries, a nurses' office, a central courtyard, a combined football and basketball court, shaded outdoor areas with play equipment, a large swimming pool and three prayer areas. Each division has its own science labs, computer labs and art rooms. There are five libraries in total, with over 40,000 titles and e-book access, and more than 500 iPads for younger learners.
