How the ordering in Ischooladvisor’s search tabs is calculated

Top on Ischooladvisor (Ischooladvisor ranking, updated annually)

In our school listings we aim to compile the best information provided directly by the educational centres and we continually improve our database to help families choose the centre that best suits them.

All centres have been invited to complete and verify their information on Ischooladvisor free of charge. If you work at one and are not aware of this invitation, please complete this form and we will be happy to assist you.

Below we describe the blocks and metrics taken into account in the mathematical calculation process for each centre’s score, which is carried out at the end of each year (depending on the metric, it may apply to schools, Preschools, secondary schools, or all of them. If a criterion does not apply to a centre, for example the EvAU mark for a Preschool or a CEIP, it will be treated neutrally in that category). All categories except platform performance and ratings have been reported by the educational centres themselves, which they can do free of charge in their Ischooladvisor private area. To ensure the reliability of the information, we have requested evidence for some data such as academic results and we may ask for additional verification of the information supplied. If you identify any incorrect information, please let us know by filling in this form.

1. Provision and Academic Results

• EvAU compulsory phase (+ A levels and other equivalences, 0–10).
• Average University Entrance mark (+ A levels and other equivalences, 0–14).
• % of pupils who pass ESO: percentage of pupils who successfully complete Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO).
• International programmes (IB, Dual Baccalaureate): presence of international programmes such as the International Baccalaureate and the Dual Baccalaureate.
• % of pupils who gain entry to their first choice: percentage of students who access their first option (studies, training or employment).
• Languages: variety of languages offered, taking into account the level in each language.
• Pupil–teacher ratio: number of teachers per pupil.

2. Services and Facilities

• Sports facilities: availability and variety of sports facilities at the centre.
• Additional services provided to families: availability and range of additional services provided to families.
• Extracurricular activities: availability and range of extracurricular activities provided to families.

3. Openness and Satisfaction of the Educational Community

• Families’ ratings: quantity and quality of opinions and ratings given by families about the centre on EduPulse and on the web.
• % Teacher turnover: rate of change of teaching staff at the centre.

4. Diversity and Inclusion

• % International students: proportion of students of international origin.
• Provision for diversity / Special needs: availability and range of measures to support diversity and special needs.

5. Platform performance

• Traffic to profile: number of visits to the centre’s profile on our platform.
• Family contacts: number of contacts generated through our platform, applying filters to identify and exclude duplicate contacts, from the same physical addresses, IPs or other invalid patterns.
• Profile completeness on Ischooladvisor.
• Impressions: number of impressions of the centre’s profile on our platform.

The Ischooladvisor team reviews the information provided by the centres, who are solely responsible for the information supplied, in an effort to ensure it is truthful. Nevertheless, if you detect any data for any centre that does not seem right, please let us know by filling in this form. The information provided by the centres will be reviewed periodically and corrected when necessary, and the centre’s score will also be updated accordingly.

These criteria allow us to offer a list based on quantitative data provided by the educational centres and continuously updated to reflect the most relevant and useful information for families. While these lists can help in the search process, at Ischooladvisor we always recommend that families contact and/or visit the centres to complete the information first-hand and ask any questions, as the best educational centre for each family will depend on their preferences and needs.
