This entry covers the International Section of the Swedish International School of Madrid, in Alcobendas, formerly the Scandinavian International School. The school runs two sections: the Scandinavian section, which follows the Swedish curriculum and teaches in Swedish, and the International section, which follows the Cambridge programme and teaches in English. Both cover Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary and Bachillerato. The school takes children from 18 months to 18 years, and in the International section no previous knowledge of English is required at ages 2 to 3. It is a small school of around 400 pupils, owned and run by a non-profit association of the parents of its pupils, and classes are usually small, which the school links to a high teacher density and personalised teaching.
