Educational System of Liceo Europeo
Method
Pedagogical method active & Innovative Methodologies
Educational principles
Liceo Europeo is a nationally and internationally renowned educational institution that has been providing high-quality education since 1982.
There is no teaching without experience.
Liceo Europeo's educational approach and methodological processes are based on Active Learning (learning by doing, discovering and researching) and on an organisational system focused on personalised and flexible education.
Active Learning means that students learn to think and discover knowledge for themselves through personal experimentation. As a result, they develop their intellectual autonomy rather than systematically repeating what they read, see or hear throughout the learning process.
This methodology is implemented from the moment children join the school (at the age of 1), encouraging free play and exploration of their surroundings. Following this approach to fostering inquiry, as students progress through the different stages, they develop a motivation and curiosity to discover the unknown, going beyond what they read in textbooks.
Through direct contact with reality in laboratories, educational trips and other experiences and practical activities, students are able to analyse real-life challenges and problems and find solutions to them. They acquire values and develop personal and professional skills and competencies that enable them to thrive successfully in adult life and contribute to making the world a better place for everyone.
School values
In an environment of care, security and trust, students learn collaboratively through experience. They are able to reflect on the knowledge they acquire, fostering the development of independent and global thinking and an international mindset.

Information about the school-family relationship
At Liceo Europeo, the relationship between the school and families is an essential part of the educational project. Student support is continuous, close and personalised.
Personalised Tutoring and Follow-Up
Tutoring combines support for the group's social development with the individual follow-up of each student. Study habits, academic choices and the resolution of potential issues related to coexistence are addressed.
Each student has a personal educational project, which is continuously designed and reviewed. In addition, each educational stage has a permanent tutor (Technical Director) who coordinates the student's follow-up and maintains direct and regular contact with the family.
The tutoring service dedicates approximately 1,000 hours per month to personalised support. It is provided by classroom teachers, in coordination with the Technical Directors, the Head of Studies and qualified staff. The school's leadership team is also actively involved in this support. Tutoring sessions can be held in person or online, depending on each family's needs.
Guidance Department
The Guidance Department, made up of a psychologist and an educational psychologist, provides comprehensive and personalised follow-up for each student from the earliest stages.
Its work is preventive and continuous. In Early Years and Primary Education, it enables potential difficulties to be identified and addressed at an early stage. In Secondary Education and the Baccalaureate, it helps strengthen social and emotional skills, guide academic decisions and support students at key moments in their personal development.
This close and respectful support creates an environment of trust that promotes the well-being and growth of every student.
Family Involvement
Liceo Europeo actively encourages families to become involved in school life. Throughout the academic year, numerous activities are organised to strengthen the educational community.
These include Breakfast Chats, Family Meetings, creative and cooking workshops, sports activities, concerts, technology and cultural workshops. These initiatives allow families to experience everyday life at the school and share experiences with other parents, students and teachers.
Celebrations and Community Life
The school organises a comprehensive programme of celebrations and open days that brings the entire educational community together. Cultural and traditional events such as Hispanic Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Book Day and Constitution Day are celebrated.
The school also celebrates particularly meaningful occasions such as Christmas, Santa Claus visits, San Antón, Saint Patrick's Day and Graduation Ceremonies.
The End-of-Year Celebration brings together around 3,000 people each year and culminates in activities, performances, bonfires and a fireworks display. In addition, the Annual Alumni Reunion brings together more than 200 attendees, strengthening the sense of belonging to the school.

Liceo Europeo is located in a protected natural area with more than 1,000 trees, as well as shrubs, gardens, nurseries and other green spaces. All sports courts, sand play areas, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities are surrounded by trees, some of which are over a century old.
The renovation and expansion of our facilities, learning spaces, equipment and ICT resources is an ongoing process. Our educational campus also includes a 1,500 m² sustainable building (LEED SCHOOL V4) housing laboratories, technology spaces, classrooms and a library, as well as open-plan work areas that encourage collaborative learning.

Information about educational platforms of the Liceo Europeo
The school's teaching strategies and classroom organisation ensure that the educational experience fosters creativity, promotes teamwork and develops participation and collaboration skills, enabling students to value and practise the decision-making process. In this way, students use technology to locate, evaluate and gather information from a wide variety of available sources.
Liceo Europeo's methodology encourages students to discover knowledge for themselves through active learning, develop their intellectual autonomy and avoid systematically reproducing the intellectual or human thinking of their teachers. Students create their own digital or conventional textbooks in several languages, make extensive use of new technologies and communicate with the school via the Internet.
The school has also intensified its technology training programme for all teachers, which was launched several years ago. This includes training in Artificial Intelligence: the school provides ongoing training for its teachers in the use of AI tools, ensuring that they understand both their potential and their limitations. The school's position regarding these new technologies is clear: their purpose is not to replace the teaching and learning process or the development of critical thinking, but rather to guide students so that, when such tools are used, they do so ethically and responsibly.
The school has Google Certified Trainers who train teachers in the use of Google technologies, enabling them to obtain Google Educator Level 1 and/or Google Educator Level 2 certification and apply their knowledge in the classroom. In the field of Artificial Intelligence, the school also provides ongoing training for teachers in the use of related tools, ensuring that they understand their potential and limitations. Recently, a workshop was held covering an overview of education and generative AI, including an introduction to tools such as ChatGPT and its alternatives. AI-mediated teaching was also addressed, highlighting the importance of critical thinking. The workshop was led by Carlos de Aldama Sánchez, Assistant Professor in the Department of Research and Psychology in Education, Faculty of Education, Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
The Information Technology Department also provides courses for teaching staff to improve their productivity and efficiency, enabling technology to be integrated into the school's educational approach through training in mobile device management, communication and productivity tools (Chromebooks, ChromeOS, Windows 10 and 11, interactive touch panels, digital content creation, etc.).
