When I moved to ipso! Rheinfelden in the summer of 2021, at 13 years old, I was – as with any new beginning – excited, a little overwhelmed and unsure of what to expect. However, these initial concerns were immediately dispelled when, on my first day of class, I was warmly welcomed and actively integrated by teachers and classmates. The next three years, which I spent at ipso! until I graduated from high school, were some of the most formative of my academic career so far. Thanks to the relatively small classes, which in my time averaged 10 students... When I moved to ipso! Rheinfelden in the summer of 2021, at 13 years old, I was – as with any new beginning – excited, a little overwhelmed and unsure of what to expect. However, these initial concerns were immediately dispelled when, on my first day of class, I was warmly welcomed and actively integrated by teachers and classmates. The next three years, which I spent at ipso! until I graduated from high school, were some of the most formative of my academic career so far. Thanks to the relatively small classes, which in my time averaged 10 students, the teachers were able to specifically address each child's strengths and weaknesses and also take their individual needs into account. I, for example, had significant difficulties with French, so teacher Nadia spent time working with me individually on my weaknesses and explaining the material to me step by step. The small class sizes also fostered a strong sense of community and trust, both among students and in collaboration with teachers, something I have not experienced again. The school administration provided me with an invaluable service with their tireless efforts to facilitate my transition to Liestal Gymnasium, which ultimately paid off. I was able to start my first semester of bilingual instruction, focusing on mathematics and physics, directly from the 9th grade at the BEZ (Berufskolleg), without an entrance exam or other difficulties, for which I was exceptionally well prepared. Not only did the school administration provide me with invaluable personal and academic support, but the teachers also significantly influenced my character and knowledge. Andrew Thompson, in particular, imparted an incredible amount of knowledge to me through his history and German classes. With his dynamic presentations, he created a true "portal to the past", allowing us not only to understand history, but also to experience it firsthand. At the same time, he instilled an awareness of corporate language and constantly made connections to real-world applications, giving the classes a unique depth. His vast knowledge and ability to communicate it clearly had a lasting impact on teaching. Not only did the school administration provide me with invaluable support, but the teachers also played a crucial role in my learning. Ms. Prita had a profound influence on me, not only academically, but most of all on my character and personal development. His selection of excellent and very accurate books for English class opened new perspectives for us. He was always a very pleasant and dedicated person who enriched the classes both personally and academically. Looking back, I was especially impressed by how naturally he exemplified open-mindedness, not as a buzzword, but in his interactions with us and in the topics covered in class. Mr. Bryan was always accessible, available and willing to help. No matter the problem, you could always count on their support, which made daily school life considerably easier. If you are currently wondering whether or not to enroll your child in ipso! Rheinfelden, I can tell you from personal experience: this school not only gave me knowledge, but also took me seriously as a person and provided me with personalized support. That was precisely what made the crucial difference for me.
