About British Vietnamese International School Hanoi (BVIS Hanoi)
At the British Vietnamese International School Hanoi (BVIS), we ensure that our students not only gain the knowledge and skills that allow them to study at some of the top universities in the world but also develop values that ensure that they continue to challenge and develop themselves in the future.
Every day, we help students become the successful global leaders of tomorrow, who are comfortable living and working anywhere in the world. At the same time, they will have knowledge of, and take pride in, their own culture and language, representing their own country internationally.
Through our vibrant curriculum, we encourage our students to live lives which are personally and socially fulfilling. Both inside and outside of the classroom, BVIS students develop a love for art, music, dance, theatre and culture which will enrich the whole of their lives. Personal growth and leadership stands at the heart of every student’s experience.
If you were to visit us during a school day, watching the comings and goings of the staff and students, you would observe a great sense of purpose, energy, and a deep enthusiasm. British Vietnamese International School students within our young school are proud of their school and they have a strong sense of belonging.

BVIS HANOI: SPREADING THE GIFT OF SMILES
It is such a great pleasure for me to have journeyed with BVIS Hanoi and their lovely students for quite some time now and it has been a truly amazing experience to witness their engagement in so many cultural and self-enriching activities, especially in the humanitarian works of Operation Smile Vietnam (OSV).
As Ms. Oprah Winfrey has said: “Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom”, that inspiring statement seems to be embedded very well into BVIS Hanoi‘s philosophy of teaching and the dedication from teachers has been very well reflected through the participation of students in a harmony of music, art, science and on top of all, community services.
The Smile Club and its members at BVIS Hanoi have written up a beautiful story from when they first began to learn about the conditions of unfortunate children born with cleft lip and cleft palate at the school till when they made their very first trip to Operation Smile medical mission at the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Hanoi. With great youthful energy and incredible discipline, the students from different ages and classes provided amazing support to OSV staff through the help of weighing and registering patients, delivering medical files and guiding patients to the examining room, etc… In addition, they were also a great comfort to the patients, providing positive mentality and joy to the children with the Smile Bags of toys they have beautifully prepared before they enter into their life-changing moments.
Little acts as it might seem but the devotion and commitment that BVIS Hanoi students have shown since that meaningful trip have inspired all of our OSV staff at the mission site and many other student communities and their wonderful acts have strongly motivated us to carry on our hope for a great generation of leaders and citizens with both open minds and kind hearts.
Very proud to be part of this amazing story from BVIS Hanoi!
My boy has attended this school since 2016. I appreciate the high-quality education, values and overall study environment that BVIS offers. I specially thank to the effort of school in encouraging the children to READ and how the school has involved parent into reading progress of the kids. This is very important to a young child in building his/her own thinking system & self-learning in future.
Besides this, the school also do care about the children they are teaching, e.g, how to encourage them, how to support them, etc. From a very shy and not confident boy, my son now is very active and confident to voice out his own opinions and be more open toward others. And he really loves to go to school each day.
Sure, every school has its weak points but I see the effort of BVIS Hanoi in the way they respond and try to improve day by day.
As a former pastoral counselor at BVIS, I was so impressed that the wellbeing of students always comes first, and it has become the philosophy of the school. Students here are so open to their teachers. Consequently, teachers are able to understand their concerns, closely follow up case by case and support them both academically and emotionally. Unconditional care is the best part of BVIS’ pastoral care!
BVIS is a top rated, private international secondary and primary school in Hanoi. My son, he has been attending BVIS since second grade. Currently, he is in sixth grade and he is thriving in both academically and socially.
BVIS, Hanoi has provided my son and his peers with an inclusive community. BVIS is so successful at creating a sense of community because its curriculum is structured to ensure that all students spend time participating in varying fields of academics, athletics, and the arts. Students across interest groups and ages are thereby forced to work side by side, cultivating an intense feeling of family within the student body.
Most Teachers are amiable and very willing to make themselves available outside of the classroom for extra help. It is definitely a tight knit community where teachers and administrators are looking out for the best interests of the students.
BVIS Hanoi is right for for my son!
