Information about the curricular adaptation of the Bryanston School
Bryanston's Learning Support department is led by a SENDCo with a background in special educational needs and English as an additional language, working with a team of six teachers who hold dyslexia-specialist training and subject specialisms. Pupils are assessed on arrival for reading, writing and speed of work, and an individual education plan is drawn up for each pupil receiving direct support, reviewed termly. Support is delivered through inclusive classroom practice, small-group work in class, one-to-one interventions and the use of technology, with a multi-sensory approach across listening, reading, watching and doing. The department can assess internally for access arrangement concessions under JCQ regulations and refers families to an external assessor for full diagnostic reports. Learning support, teaching and boarding house staff coordinate so that strategies used in class carry over into the boarding house.
