Robert College is a private, co-educational high school on a wooded hillside campus in Arnavutköy, in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. Founded in 1863, it describes itself as the oldest American school still operating outside the United States; the boys' school merged in 1971 with the American College for Girls on the present campus, while the original university division became Boğaziçi University. The school works under the Turkish Ministry of National Education and is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS). It enrols about 1,050 students from more than 50 cities across Türkiye, admitted through the national high school entrance exam taken in Grade 8; the school stresses that it is not an international school. Every student first completes a year of intensive English, followed by four years of upper-secondary study taught partly in English and partly in Turkish, with French or German as an additional language. Around one student in four receives need-based financial aid, roughly a fifth of students board in the campus residences, and more than 100 clubs are available. Tuition for 2026-27 ranges from about TRY 1.24 million to TRY 2.49 million per year depending on the grade, with boarding charged separately.

Robert College is a five-year high school. Students join after completing Grade 8 in the Turkish system, usually at about 14, through the national high school entrance exam. They first spend a compulsory English preparatory year and then follow four years of upper-secondary education, Grades 9 to 12, leading to graduation at around 18. The school's former middle school closed in 1997 when Turkey extended compulsory primary education to eight years, so there are no primary or lower-secondary sections.

Teaching at Robert College is bilingual. English is used for mathematics, the sciences, English literature, art, music and physical education, while Turkish language and literature and the social sciences are taught in Turkish; the school aims for university-level command of both languages. All new students spend a full preparatory year of intensive English, whatever their starting level. A third language is required: students take French or German for at least two years, organised by CEFR levels, and may continue to B1 or B2. About half of the teaching staff are native English speakers.

Robert College follows the Turkish national upper-secondary programme, extended with its own electives and an English preparatory year, and is not an International Baccalaureate or British-curriculum school. In Grades 11 and 12 students can take Advanced Placement courses, including AP Calculus AB and BC, AP English Literature, AP Computer Science (Java), AP Art, AP Contemporary Art and AP Photography, and some students sit AP French or German exams without a dedicated course. Graduation requires at least 75 hours of community service. University counsellors support applications both in Türkiye and abroad, and in recent years a majority of graduates have continued their studies outside the country. Accreditation comes from NYSAIS.

Support services include a health centre run with the Acıbadem Healthcare Group, staffed around the clock and with a doctor and two nurses during school hours. Guidance counsellors follow each student throughout the five years, offering individual and group counselling, and university counsellors advise on applications in Türkiye and overseas. The historic campus mixes old and new buildings, with half of the grounds kept as natural space. There are physics, chemistry and biology labs and computer labs. The İbrahim Bodur Library, renovated in 2014 inside Gould Hall, has study and collaboration rooms, a video room with green screen and a rare-book collection dating back to 1587. Suna Kıraç Hall houses a 500-seat theatre, music classrooms, an orchestra room, a dance studio and practice rooms, while Sage Hall holds art studios with a darkroom, kiln and printmaking press.
