La Garenne School has been delivering exceptional education to thousands of children since 1947. This IB accredited World School prides itself on its personal approach and individualised education for students from over 30 countries. La Garenne welcomes up to 165 students aged from 5 to 18 years. Our facilities and dedicated staff enable us to deliver programme options typically found at much larger institutions. The school’s philosophy is based on providing individual attention to each and every student, encouraging a passion for learning, developing international mindedness and ensuring the rounded development of all the young people in our care academically, socially and emotionally. Older students are based at the state-or-the-art Le Roc campus, where graduates study for the International Baccalaureate. The setting is designed to prepare students for life beyond La Garenne, and to set their sights on prestigious higher education establishments across the world. Our holistic approach means that no students are “left behind” and we have a full programme of support for those with special needs. In the Primary School (ages 5-10), children follow the International Primary Curriculum, which prepares them well for the transition to our Secondary School, where they study the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. Younger students board in cosy, comfortable accommodation in the heart of the original school estate where their house parents take care of their every need. La Garenne prides itself on its long and rich history as a bilingual place of learning. While the main language for academic subjects is English, we believe that language learning is vitally important and students are encouraged to master French through ongoing tuition and special projects. La Garenne is owned and run by the second generation of the Swiss Méan family and retains its character as an intimate, friendly and caring community in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
