The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) is a non-profit, coeducational, English-medium international day school in Battaramulla, on the eastern side of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1957 by members of diplomatic missions and the business community as the Colombo School for Overseas Children, it adopted its present name in 1996 and has occupied its six-acre Pelawatte campus, designed by the architect Geoffrey Bawa, since the 1980s. The 2026-27 school profile reports 330 students of 35 nationalities (the website speaks of more than 40) and 58 educators, with a teacher-student ratio of about 1:6. OSC presents itself as the only school in Sri Lanka offering the complete International Baccalaureate continuum: the Primary Years Programme from Early Years to Grade 5, the Middle Years Programme in Grades 6 to 10 and the Diploma Programme, taught since 1983, in Grades 11 and 12. It is accredited by the IB, the Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association, and belongs to SAISA, NESA and ECIS. Children join from the age of three and continue to Grade 12. The school has a strong sustainability profile: it was the first in Sri Lanka to earn the Eco-Schools Green Flag in 2022 and received an MSA distinction in sustainability in 2024. There is no boarding and no school uniform apart from PE kit, and a user-pay bus service is available.
