Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) includes two year groups: Nursery (age 3) and Reception (age 4). At our school, this stage takes place in a separate building with plenty of outdoor spaces, play areas, and opportunities to explore the environment.
EYFS provides full immersion in school life and, for many children, in the English language. Pupils are supported at all times by a teacher and a learning assistant, as well as additional staff who help during breaks and lunch.
Primary (KS1 and KS2)
Primary education covers Year 1 (age 5) to Year 6 (age 10). This stage lays the foundations of a child's education.
Primary is divided into two key stages:
- KS1 (Years 1–2): pupils acquire and consolidate core skills.
- KS2 (Years 3–6): pupils gain increasing independence, develop their skills, and take more responsibility for their own learning.
Core subjects, English and Maths, have significant weighting in the timetable. Subjects such as Science, Geography, History and Art are taught through project-based learning. Each class has a dedicated classroom, and subjects are taught by the class teacher.
Secondary (KS3 and KS4)
Secondary education runs from Year 7 (age 11) to Year 11 (age 15) and is split into two stages:
- KS3 (Years 7–9)
- KS4 (Years 10–11)
Students are expected to develop independence and initiative. Each subject is taught by a specialist teacher, and pupils move to the classroom assigned for each subject according to their timetable.
Sixth Form (KS5 / A-Levels)
The Sixth Form, or KS5, covers Year 12 and Year 13 as a two-year programme. Pupils study for A-Levels, the official UK qualifications required for entry to British universities. A-Levels are also recognised by international universities.
Complementary Spanish Curriculum
At The British School of Málaga, British studies are complemented with Spanish subjects. Pupils study Spanish Language and Literature and Social Sciences alongside the British curriculum. Sixth Form students combine A-Levels with Spanish subjects, giving them direct access to both Spanish public and private universities.

Dining room
Information about the dining hall of the The British School of Málaga
The school lunch service is compulsory for all pupils. Meals are prepared fresh each day in the kitchen and served in the dining hall in different sittings according to the year group. The kitchen was fully renovated in the summer of 2025, creating modern facilities complemented by an enlarged and refurbished dining area.
The menu includes a starter, a main course with a side dish, and a dessert (usually fruit or a dairy-based option). Pupils also have access to a salad buffet to complement their meal. Special menus are available to meet individual dietary needs, and from the 2025 school year, an international menu has been introduced to cater to the tastes of the wider school community.

The British School of Málaga is set in a privileged location, surrounded by trees and green spaces, in the exclusive residential area of Cerrado de Calderón, just 15 minutes from Málaga city centre. The school offers ample parking and is only two minutes from exit 979 of the A-7 motorway.
The campus is designed for each stage of education, with five distinct areas: Early Years, Primary (a new building opened in 2024), Secondary, Sixth Form, and comprehensive sports facilities. Each space is carefully planned to allow pupils to learn and grow in a safe and stimulating environment.
The new Primary building spans four floors and nearly 3,700 square metres, dedicated entirely to younger pupils, with bright classrooms and specialised areas for creative learning.
