Escola da APEL (Associação Promotora do Ensino Livre) is a Catholic private coeducational school founded on 21 July 1978 in Funchal (Madeira Island), with operations beginning on 1 October 1978. It was created to meet the need for private education at upper-secondary level on Madeira. It has been an IB World School for the Diploma Programme since 4 June 2015 (school code 050599). Alongside the standard Scientific-Humanistic curriculum, it offers Vocational Courses, Education and Training Courses and International Education. The school was a pioneer on Madeira in adopting vocational training programmes early on, and among the first to deliver the 13th-year vocational pathway.
