A'Takamul International School, or ATIS, is a private, independent K-12 school in the Sabah Al-Salem area of Kuwait, set up in 1993 by a group of educators and Kuwaiti backers who wanted a western academic programme delivered within an Islamic and Kuwaiti setting. Around 2,000 pupils and more than a hundred teachers work across three divisions: kindergarten, elementary for Grades 1 to 5, and a combined middle and high school for Grades 6 to 12. Lessons follow United States standards, with the Common Core in the lower grades and the Virginia Standards of Learning higher up, and older pupils can sit Advanced Placement subjects such as Calculus and Computer Science. Classes are mixed in the first four grades and then split by sex, though the two groups share the playgrounds and the rest of the campus all day. The purpose-built site holds more than 200 classrooms, two gymnasiums, a heated indoor pool, seven science labs, seven computer rooms with robotics kits in the secondary lab, a performing arts centre, art rooms, a staffed library, a canteen and a clinic in each division. Every room has an interactive panel or projector, families follow progress through Skoolee and Class Dojo, and an IT chatbot answers admissions and uniform questions in English and Arabic. Buses with GPS tracking and supervisors are available, and the school is accredited by Cognia and AIAASC.

The school delivers a United States programme rather than a British or IB one: the Common Core Standards in kindergarten and elementary, and the Virginia Standards of Learning in middle and high school, with all teaching resources drawn from American schemes. High school runs as college preparation for Grades 9 to 12 and offers Advanced Placement courses including Calculus and Computer Science, and a College Board partnership opens the SAT and PSAT route to university. Accreditation comes from Cognia and from AIAASC, while membership of ECIS and AAIE links the staff to wider international-school networks. Growth in core subjects is tracked with NWEA adaptive testing. Thirty pupils have been selected for a year-long STEM college curriculum run with an American college partner, which ends with a three-week capstone project in the United States.
