The International School of Genoa (ISG) is a private international school founded in 1966 and located in the Genova-Quarto district, about five kilometres from the city centre. It is the first authorised IB Continuum School in Liguria, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in Early Years and Elementary School, the Middle Years Programme in Grades 6 to 10 and the Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12, covering a complete educational path from age 2 to 17. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools and is one of only eight schools in Italy to hold this recognition. Its 6,000 square metre campus occupies the grounds of a renovated fourteenth-century Benedictine abbey surrounded by historical gardens, and includes three science laboratories dedicated to Biology, Chemistry and Physics, an Innovation lab for Computer Science, Design and Technology, an auditorium with a professional sound system, an art room, a library and a cafeteria. English is the language of instruction and the school runs an English as an Additional Language programme alongside Italian language provision, a Learning Support Programme and a school psychologist. After-school clubs run once a week and include football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, rugby, multi-sport, chess, dance, yoga, debate, arts and crafts and a STEM club covering coding and robotics. School transport and a cafeteria service are also available.
