English is the language of the school and of all lessons except foreign languages, which are taught by native-speaking teachers. French and Italian are part of the programme, and from Grade 3 pupils who plan to sit the Italian state eligibility exams take a daily lesson in Italian.

Since 1977 Castelli has combined the Italian national programme with an English-language international curriculum for children aged 5 to 14. Middle school adds the Cambridge Lower and Upper Secondary programmes, with Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE exams taken at school alongside the Italian state exams, and older students attend Model United Nations conferences in Rome, New York and Boston. Each class goes on at least two study trips a year, and there is an annual ski week.

Information about the facilities of the Castelli International School

The school occupies a green campus in the Castelli Romani hills south of Rome, among vineyards and olive groves. Outdoors there is an amphitheatre, a vegetable garden and a teaching greenhouse, a full-size synthetic multi-purpose court used for tennis, basketball, volleyball, field hockey, tag rugby and cricket, and two artificial-turf five-a-side football pitches. The library occupies the former wine cellar, where the old barrel bays are now reading corners, and the old greenhouse was converted into a music room in 2015.

Castelli is a wonderful school that nurtures children from the age of 5 to 14, teaching them English, science, maths, music, art, geography.... the whole spectrum of subjects, but more importantly the school teaches their children to think, be confident and care about each other and the planet. What's more the school is high above Rome's smog and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Great staff, nice parents and amazing kids
