CHIREC International School's Kondapur campus is the CBSE section of CHIREC, a private co-educational day school in Hyderabad, Telangana, whose story began in 1989 as the Children's Recreation Centre and a preschool. The school is now part of the international Cognita group. The Kondapur site covers about five acres close to the Botanical Gardens in Hyderabad's IT district, and teaches pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 12 under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a board CHIREC has been affiliated with for more than thirty years. The campus also runs a day-care centre for children aged 2 to 10 that is open on weekdays until 6 pm. Lessons mix project-based and interdisciplinary work with preparation for the national Grade 10 and Grade 12 board exams, and senior students pick a science, commerce or humanities stream with electives such as biotechnology, psychology, legal studies or fashion studies. A social and emotional learning programme, the C-Hub innovation lab, an entrepreneurship programme run with ISB and a careers service starting in middle school round off the offer. Across its four Hyderabad campuses CHIREC reports more than 6,500 students and a student-teacher ratio of around 1:14, and it describes its environment as secular and inclusive.
