The American Embassy School, or AES, is a non-profit international school on thirteen garden acres in Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic quarter of New Delhi. It teaches Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 on an American programme in English, with about seventy nationalities among the pupils and staff drawn from twenty countries. Elementary classes average eighteen pupils, every child from Kindergarten upward gets a school device, and world languages plus an Indian Studies strand start in the early grades. Grades 9 and 10 follow a university-preparatory route, and the final two years split between the IB Diploma, the school's own design and innovation diploma and American-style courses. The campus holds libraries, makerspaces, a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a theatre seating 480, music rehearsal rooms, cafeterias, a barista-style student cafe and a staffed health office; some fifty filtration systems and a hundred monitors keep indoor air clean. Beyond lessons the Tigers compete in the ASIAC and MESAC conferences, travel to ISTA drama and AMIS music festivals, and choose from dozens of clubs, an elementary after-school programme and a summer camp. An Extended Services Program supports pupils with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and air-conditioned buses with monitors and a tracking app serve most neighbourhoods of Delhi and Gurugram.

AES is organised in three divisions on one campus. The Elementary School takes children from Pre-Kindergarten 3 and Pre-Kindergarten 4 through Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 5, and the school's published demographics show 506 pupils in this division. Information about languages of the American Embassy School

English is the language of instruction throughout the school, backed by an English as an Additional Language programme in Grades 6 to 8 and again in Grades 9 and 10, with proficiency screened online during the application. In the elementary school every child follows a World Language class, and French and Spanish are the options offered there; Hindi is woven into the Indian Studies programme, where pupils build conversational vocabulary year by year alongside the culture of the host country. From middle school the choice widens to three levelled tracks - building, emerging and expanding - in Mandarin, French and Spanish, each taught largely in the target tongue. High school pupils in the EAL programme take a support class instead of a world language while remaining in mainstream English and history lessons.

Information about international degrees and programmes of the American Embassy School

In Grades 9 and 10 AES follows an American-style, university-preparatory programme common to all students. For the last two years pupils choose a route: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which the school has offered since 1982 and which is open to every student rather than a selected group; the project-based diploma of the Institute for Design and Innovation (IDI), where rising Grade 11 students design a personalised path around their interests and goals; or a broad set of school-designed American-style courses. All routes lead to a US high school diploma, and the school reports that 97 percent of graduates continue to universities abroad.
