Pinewood American International School of Thessaloniki is an independent, non-profit, co-educational day and boarding school in Pylea, Thessaloniki. Founded in 1950, it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2025, the year it inaugurated a new, nature-inspired Middle and High School complex opposite its original Early Years and Elementary building at 60 John Kennedy Avenue. About 600 students from more than 55 nationalities attend, from Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) to Grade 12, drawn from diplomatic, business, military and local Greek families. English is the only language of instruction. Pinewood follows an American, standards-based college-preparatory curriculum within the International Baccalaureate framework: it is authorised for the PYP and MYP and runs the IB Diploma jointly with neighbouring Anatolia College. High school students can instead earn the American diploma with Advanced Placement courses, including the AP Capstone Diploma, add Global Online Academy courses, or follow the Greek diploma equivalency route. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association, receives support from the U.S. State Department's Office of Overseas Schools and belongs to NESA, CIS and AAIE. Boarders live in a supervised residence on the Anatolia campus across the street. Buses serve several parts of the city, and Student Services brings together learning specialists, psychologists and nurses.
