Information about the educational stages of the SIS Paris Ouest

SIS Paris Ouest is a not-for-profit association that has run international sections in the west of Paris (Hauts-de-Seine) since 1960, making it one of the oldest in France. It has an English-speaking (British) section and a German-speaking section, hosted in French public schools: École Ferdinand Buisson in Boulogne-Billancourt, Écoles Gambetta and Croix Bosset in Sèvres, Collège de Sèvres, Collèges Gounod and Verhaeren in Saint-Cloud and Lycée Jean-Pierre Vernant in Sèvres. Students follow the French national curriculum with their French classmates and, as an International Section recognised by the French Ministry of Education, are taught literature and history-geography in English or German by native-speaking teachers. In Première and Terminale they prepare the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), in the British bilingual track validated by OxfordAQA or in the German bilingual and trilingual tracks, in groups of up to 20 students.

Information about languages of the SIS Paris Ouest

Students are taught in French for the national curriculum and in English or German, at mother-tongue level, for literature and history-geography in the international section. The integrated programme is aimed at bilingual children, while from Sixième the German section also takes motivated students with little or no German, who can follow a trilingual French-German-English track with DSD I and DSD II German certificates. Entrance tests in English or German assess whether pupils can follow lessons in the language of their section.

Information about extracurricular activities of the SIS Paris Ouest

Life at SIS goes beyond the classroom, with clubs, exchanges and at least two tailor-made trips during each student's schooling; recent destinations include the United States, Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and several German cities. Since 1988 'The Play', a musical production written or adapted by anglophone section teachers, has brought together more than 100 secondary students from four sites for performances in Boulogne and Sèvres, and the German section has its own stage group, Die Bühne. Students also produce literary and art magazines and a bilingual Yearbook-Jahrbuch, primary pupils put on an annual Primary Play, and secondary students compete in the Poetry By Heart recitation competition.

Information about the services offered by the SIS Paris Ouest

Integrated primary classes are taught by SIS teachers over two half-days a week, using the Talk for Writing method, and morning and lunchtime care in English or German is available for primary pupils. For children who attend their local school, the Wednesday School and Mittwochsschule offer native-level classes and workshops on Wednesday mornings, and beginners in primary can join the Active English and Deutschclub workshops. A team of teacher-advisers guides older students on university choices in France, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, helps with applications and references, and organises an alumni forum every December. In 2026, 93% of the 87 BFI candidates passed with honours.

Expérience extrêmement décevante et préoccupante. Nous avons payé 165€ pour un processus de sélection qui, au final, ne donne lieu à aucun retour concret. Notre enfant a simplement reçu une réponse standard de refus, sans aucune explication sur les résultats, les critères d’évaluation ou les axes d’amélioration. Malgré plusieurs relances, aucune réponse ne nous a été apportée à ce jour.
