EIB à distance is a private distance-learning school based in Paris that has specialised in home education since 1957. It is registered with the Paris education authority (rectorat de l'Académie de Paris), is subject to the annual educational inspection of the French Ministry of Education and is a member of the FNEP federation of private education. Since 2017 it has belonged to the Globeducate group, and together with Cours Sainte-Anne it forms the CEDRE collective of responsible distance-learning schools. There is no physical campus: children study at home in France or abroad, while the teaching team works from the school's Paris office. Families can enrol in a full programme covering all subjects of the French national curriculum, from Petite Section of maternelle to the final year of the general baccalauréat, or choose individual subjects as a complement to another school. Each course pack contains lessons, exercises and homework to send for marking, with corrections returned within roughly 10 to 15 days, and families follow marks, reports and certificates in an online space. Students from 6ème upwards also have access to supervised online study rooms and optional small-group video classes in French and maths. The school prepares students for the brevet and the general baccalauréat, offers an accelerated bilingual English track, Cambridge English exam preparation and a dual French-American diploma option, and supports families when they apply for home-schooling authorisation.

All courses are written and taught in French. English is studied from the early years, and from 6ème students choose English or German as first foreign language and English, German, Spanish or Chinese as second language. Optional extras include a four-year bilingual English programme with one-to-one video sessions, preparation for Cambridge KET, PET, FCE and CAE, and paid packs of individual video conversation classes in German, English, Spanish or Chinese.

The core programme is the French national curriculum taught at home. Full-time students can also join a Dual Diploma programme run with the US partner Academica, which leads to an American high school diploma alongside the French baccalauréat. A truly wonderful school that supported our son throughout his three years of high school, allowing him to balance his studies with his high-level athletic pursuits.
