Cours Sainte-Anne is a private distance-learning school founded in the 1990s (1996 according to its home page) by two primary teachers, Brigitte Maurice and Florence Bouvet, who first created the course for families moving abroad. It specialises in the early years and primary education and offers complete home-schooling programmes from Petite Section of maternelle up to and including 4ème. The school has no physical campus: children learn at home, guided by a parent who acts as tutor, while a team of about thirty markers across France and a team at the Paris head office follow each family. Its teaching is described as classical, built on rich, structured content and a consistent method: syllabic reading, daily dictation, word-by-word grammatical analysis, memorisation and regular written work. Each family has a single dedicated marker in maternelle and primary, and subject teachers at collège. More than 4,000 families have used the course, and around fifty independent schools use its programmes in class. The school states that it passes on a Christian culture through its texts, with optional catechism, and it is part of the Globeducate group and of the CEDRE distance-learning collective formed with EIB à distance. Families in France need an authorisation from the education authority for children aged 3 to 16, and the team offers help with that request.
