The International Community School of Addis Ababa (ICS Addis) is a non-profit, independent international school in Ethiopia's capital, serving the international and diplomatic community from Early Years 3 through Grade 12. The school traces its origins to 1964, when Emperor Haile Selassie I donated the 15-acre site; it was originally known as the American Community School and still occupies the same green campus off Mauritania Road. ICS Addis is an IB continuum school offering the Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma and Career-related Programmes, and it has offered the IB Diploma since 1982. All graduates receive the ICS Diploma, which can be combined with the IB Diploma, the IB Career-related Programme, BTEC Business qualifications or dual-enrolment courses with Arizona State University. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association, and is a member of AISA and SENIA. Families represent more than 70 nationalities, many working for the United Nations, the African Union, embassies and NGOs, alongside a strong Ethiopian presence supported by a long-running local scholarship programme.

ICS Addis is organised in three sections. The Elementary School covers Early Years 3 and 4, where play-based learning is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, followed by Early Years 5 (kindergarten) to Grade 5. The Middle School covers Grades 6 to 8, and the High School covers Grades 9 to 12, with the MYP in Grades 9 and 10 and a choice of graduation pathways in Grades 11 and 12.

English is the language of instruction, and students who are still developing their English receive English as an Additional Language support. French and Spanish are taught as language acquisition subjects in the MYP and can be continued at Diploma level as Language B or started as ab initio courses. Native speakers of Amharic can study Amharic literature, including at IB Diploma level, and the school-supported self-taught option allows students to study literature in another home language.

The activities programme offers more than 200 options over the year, from robotics, coding and debate to drama, music and visual arts, plus service clubs. Athletes compete in football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis and track and field. Varsity teams and artists travel to tournaments and festivals of ISSEA, a league of eight international schools in southern and eastern Africa, while the local ISSAAA league runs seasons from Grade 4. Model United Nations conferences are held at UN venues in Addis Ababa, and younger children can join the Saturday Junior Eagles sports programme.

A Student Support Services team provides learning support in every section, with a learning support teacher at each grade from the Early Years to Grade 5, English as an Additional Language support, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and an educational psychologist, using a multi-tiered model of support. Facilities include modern classrooms designed for flexible learning, a library, playgrounds for younger children, a FIFA-certified football field, an athletics track, a fully equipped gymnasium and a sports pavilion. Dedicated studios and performance spaces serve music, visual arts and drama, there is a cafeteria and snack bar, and an aquatics centre is under development. The campus has round-the-clock security.
