GISC is a private, purpose-built international school in the Al Rehab Extension of New Cairo, run within the GEMS Education group. It admitted its first pupils in September 2022, starting with the youngest years and adding a grade each season until it filled out at around 1,400 places covering Pre-K to Grade 12; its first cohort is due to graduate in 2027. Teaching combines an American framework built on AERO standards with the full International Baccalaureate continuum, so pupils move through the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes, and are benchmarked three times a year using MAP tests. The building leans heavily on technology, with four innovation laboratories, a makerspace, LEGO robotics, virtual reality and broadcasting kit, and pupils bring their own iPads from Grade 2 and their own laptops from Grade 6. Other on-site provision includes a swimming pool, a football court, a music room, an art room, a library, a multipurpose hall and a rooftop lounge reserved for the two senior grades, and buses are run for all pupils by an external operator.

Information about the educational stages of the GEMS International School Cairo
GISC serves children from Pre-K to Grade 12 within the IB continuum. Early Years (PYP 1-3) covers Pre-K, entered at about 2.5 years, KG1 and KG2, with a play-based, inquiry-led approach and a second language introduced in KG2. The Elementary School follows the Primary Years Programme from Grade 1 to Grade 5. Grades 6 to 10 follow the five-year Middle Years Programme, and Grades 11 and 12 take the IB Diploma Programme. MAP tests are used three times a year from Grade 2 to Grade 11 to benchmark progress.

Lessons are given in English and the school describes its classrooms as an English-speaking environment.
