The British School Quito (BSQ) was created under a bilateral agreement signed on 9 June 1995 by the Government of the Republic of Ecuador and the United Kingdom, and it acts as the Binational School for the UK in Quito. It is a registered educational foundation that prepares students aged 3 to 18 for university entrance on a single green campus in the Tumbaco valley, east of Quito. Teaching follows the English National Curriculum, leading to the Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10 and 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Years 12 and 13, and all students graduate with both a British School Diploma and the Ecuadorian Baccalaureate. Around 75% of students are Ecuadorian and the rest come from over thirty countries, so Spanish language and culture are celebrated alongside the British curriculum. Small class sizes, a Student Support Department and the school's values of excellence, compassion, respect, integrity and responsibility shape daily life at BSQ.
