Educational principles

Teaching is built on active learning methods and collaborative work, with alternative forms of assessment, small groups and one-to-one support, and students work with personal iPads in the classroom. In high school the school states that its aim is not only to develop academic skills but to teach the importance of commitment, responsibility, honesty and integrity, urging students to stay informed about local and international affairs, to communicate well and to act with honour and fairness. Its curriculum is described as rooted in both local and international culture and designed to prepare students for university in Costa Rica, the United States or anywhere else. Robotics and STEAM, digital citizenship, soft-skills development, financial education, and service and leadership all form part of the offer.

School values

The school runs S3, a Student Support Service department whose purpose is to give continuous support and follow-up to every student and, where needed, to their families. It keeps in constant contact with the whole school community in order to build the trust that lets students speak freely about their emotions, feelings, worries and doubts. Alongside it the school has created a peer support network for healthy coexistence based on the Anatole Pikas method, intended to give a deeper understanding of each student's reality in the classroom and in the wider community.
