Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou (WAS Changzhou) is a co-educational day and boarding school in Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, set on a 25-acre campus beside West Taihu Lake. Opened in 2012, it was the first school in China established as a sister school of Wycombe Abbey in the UK, and it belongs to the Wycombe Abbey Schools family, which also includes schools in Hangzhou, Nanjing and Hong Kong. The school serves children aged 3 to 18 across a Kindergarten (KG1-KG3), a Lower School (Grades 1-6) and an Upper School (Grades 7-12). Its programme blends the Chinese national curriculum in the compulsory years with British-style learning: the Kindergarten draws on the Early Years Foundation Stage, and from Grade 9 students take IGCSE and then A Level courses, completing an Extended Project Qualification along the way. Teaching is bilingual in Mandarin and English, with English immersion growing in the upper grades. Pastoral care rests on a house and tutor system adapted from British boarding schools, and most boarding staff are also classroom teachers who live on site. The school is accredited by COBIS and was named International School of the Year by the UK Boarding Schools' Association in 2022. Graduates have gone on to universities in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, continental Europe and Asia, and the school highlights a broad co-curricular offer that includes around 20 musical instruments, more than 30 sports and about 10 school expeditions.
