QSI International School of Benin is a private, nonprofit international school in Cotonou that has been operating since August 2012, when it was set up to meet the need for a quality international school in the country's main city. It is one of the schools of Quality Schools International (QSI) and is located in the Camp Guézo area. The school offers an English-language, American-style education from preschool (age 3) through Secondary IV (grade 12) and is licensed by the Beninese authorities for all these levels. The school reports around 90 students from 19 nations, about a third of them US citizens, with a mix of expatriate and local families, and a team of some 20 certified teachers from North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Classes are small, with a student-to-teacher ratio of about ten to one, so each child receives individual attention. Teaching follows QSI's mastery learning approach, in which students work through clearly defined units and move on once they have mastered them, with MAP Growth testing used to track progress in English and mathematics. French is taught as a foreign language and Intensive English supports children who are still learning English. Secondary students prepare for English-speaking universities through a blend of on-site and online courses, including Advanced Placement options. QSI Benin has been accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) since 2019 and places a strong emphasis on character education and a welcoming community.
