QSI International School of Belize is a small, nonprofit, English-medium international school in Belmopan, the capital of Belize. It opened in August 2011 at the invitation of the US State Department's Office of Overseas Schools, initially in Camalote village outside the city, and in 2015 moved to its current site on Dean Crescent in the University Heights area. The school belongs to Quality Schools International (QSI), a nonprofit network of more than 35 schools, and serves the children of diplomatic, expatriate and local families from Pre-Kindergarten through Secondary IV (grade 12). Recent school profiles report an enrolment of around 40 students from eight nationalities, taught in small classes by certified teachers from North America, Europe and other regions. The academic program follows an American-style, college-preparatory curriculum delivered through QSI's mastery learning model, in which students progress unit by unit once they have shown real understanding. Spanish is taught both as a foreign language and for native speakers, and Intensive English helps newcomers who are still learning English. Secondary students combine on-site classes with QSI Virtual School courses, including Advanced Placement options. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) and is affiliated with the US Office of Overseas Schools. Community life includes an international brunch, seasonal festivals, a spring Fun Run and service projects such as support for the Belmopan Humane Society.
