Best International Schools in Vilnius: 2026 Guide for Families

What are the best international schools in Vilnius? The main options are the American International School of Vilnius (2026-27 tuition 9,292 to 24,349 euros), the Vilnius International French Lyceum (about 5,850 to 7,850 euros), Erudito Licejus (IB, roughly 7,200 to 9,700 euros) and The British School of Vilnius. Add one-off fees of several thousand euros at some schools.

Last reviewed: October 2026 by David from ISA. Fee ranges are indicative; always confirm with the school.

Anyone comparing the best international schools in Vilnius quickly finds that the options differ more in governance and fee structure than in headline quality. One school is parent-run and linked to the French state system, another is American with a capital fee, a third offers the IB at a fraction of that price, and a fourth sits on a forest campus on the edge of the city.

This guide uses the schools' own 2026-27 fee pages and admissions rules, so the figures are as current as possible, and explains how to match a school to your family rather than naming a single winner.

Vilnius in practice: euros, calendar and commute

Lithuania adopted the euro on 1 January 2015, according to the Bank of Lithuania, so every school here quotes in euros and there is no currency exposure for families paid in euros. That makes Vilnius one of the easier cities in which to budget for school.

The schools are spread across the city. The American International School of Vilnius is on Subačiaus Street, the Vilnius International French Lyceum is on Antakalnio Street, The British School of Vilnius has a forest campus roughly 20 minutes from the city centre, according to the school, and Erudito Licejus operates in Vilnius and Kaunas. Check the commute from your likely home to each address, and choose the school before the flat.

Curricula available

  • American: the American International School of Vilnius offers an American and international standards-based curriculum from PreK2 to Grade 12.
  • French national curriculum: the Vilnius International French Lyceum teaches from nursery to the French Baccalauréat, with multilingualism central to its programme, and is contracted with the Agency for French Education Abroad.
  • IB: Erudito Licejus applies the IB programmes and offers the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12, in addition to national and international classes.
  • British: The British School of Vilnius follows a British education, with a stated focus on computing and robotics.

The IBO gives the PYP as ages 3 to 12, the MYP as 11 to 16 and the Diploma as 16 to 19.

The schools worth shortlisting

American International School of Vilnius

AISV was founded in 1993 and had its first graduating class in 2011. It says it serves students from more than 30 countries from PreK2 through Grade 12, and that over 95 per cent of its faculty hold advanced degrees. Admissions run year-round, subject to space, with placement by age and academic records. Nursery children must be at least 18 months old by 1 September, and PK3 and PK4 children must be toilet-trained.

The application asks for a teacher evaluation form, two years of previous school records in English and a copy of the child's passport or birth certificate. The school publishes the most detailed fee table of the four, which makes it the easiest to budget for.

Vilnius International French Lyceum

LIFV is a non-profit private school managed by an association of parents and contracted with the Agency for French Education Abroad. It teaches from nursery to the French Baccalauréat, and its fees are voted each year by parents at a general assembly, according to the school. Its published fees are lower than the American school's, and it is the natural choice for French-speaking families or those who want their child to learn French seriously.

If your child does not speak French, ask how a late entrant is supported, since the curriculum follows the French national programme. Check, too, whether your child's year group has places, as capacity differs by level.

Erudito Licejus

Erudito runs IB programmes with what it calls a Scandinavian integrated education philosophy, and teaches from pre-school class to Grade 10 with the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12. Its admissions have two windows, an early period from 20 October 2025 to 31 March 2026 and a main period from 1 April to 31 August 2026, with a maximum of 20 pupils in a class. If you are reading this later in the year, confirm the dates for the next intake.

The school's website is partly in Lithuanian, so ask the admissions team to confirm the English-language provision for the stream you want, the international or the national classes.

The British School of Vilnius

BSV describes a forest campus and emphasises computing and robotics, including its own robot-battle competition. It accepts applications through an online form and arranges visits. Tuition covers stationery, learning materials and consumables but not excursions, uniforms, the school bus or meals, and fees are payable annually or in three equal instalments before each term, subject to annual review. Ask for the current schedule by year group.

What international schooling costs in Vilnius

The American International School of Vilnius charges, for 2026-27, 9,292 euros for full-day Pre-Kindergarten, 20,164 euros for Kindergarten to Grade 5, 21,908 euros for Grades 6 to 8, 23,584 euros for Grades 9 and 10 and 24,349 euros for Grades 11 and 12. The Vilnius International French Lyceum charges 5,850 euros for nursery, 6,200 euros for elementary, 7,450 euros for collège and 7,850 euros for lycée when paid in ten monthly instalments, with small discounts for a single annual payment and for siblings. Erudito Licejus lists annual tuition from 7,200 euros for national classes to 9,700 euros for the IB Diploma, depending on stream and payment plan.

  • AISV application and admission fees: 428 euros on application and 2,707 euros on admission, both non-refundable, plus an annual capital fee of 2,498 euros.
  • AISV deposit: 1,000 euros for Pre-K or 2,500 euros for Kindergarten to Grade 12, paid in April to hold the next year's place.
  • AISV learning support: 2,500 euros for the basic level, 6,500 for standard and 10,000 to 30,000 for individualised support.
  • LIFV first inscription fee: 800 euros, with a 170 euro refundable deposit and an annual re-registration fee of 180 euros.
  • Lunch and care: LIFV lunch is 5.80 euros a day, and AISV's extended day programme costs 1,071 euros a year for Pre-K to Grade 3.

The hard fact: Lithuania uses the euro, so all of these fees are quoted without exchange risk.

Practical advice

Add up the first-year bill. At AISV a new student in Kindergarten to Grade 5 pays 20,164 euros tuition, plus 428, 2,707 and 2,498 euros in application, admission and capital fees, before a deposit. The sticker price is not the real price.

Compare governance, not just curriculum. At the French lyceum parents vote the fees each year, while the other schools set their own. Neither is better, but ask how much notice you get of a change.

Watch the intake windows. Erudito's early admissions close on 31 March, and AISV asks for its deposit in April. If you are moving for September, start the process in winter.
