MADRID, 17 October 2026. A student at SEK International School Ciudalcampo has been elected secretary-general of SEKMUN 2027, the Model United Nations of the SEK educational institution, in an election held at the school in Madrid on 14 October. It is the fifth consecutive year that a SEK-Ciudalcampo student will hold the post.
The election chose the authorities who will run the next edition of SEKMUN. The school described the result as a source of particular pride for its whole community and said it continues SEK-Ciudalcampo's strong record of participation in the conference, where young people take on responsibilities and put their communication, dialogue and leadership skills into practice.
SEKMUN introduces students to the workings of the United Nations by having them represent different countries in debating committees. Participants research current international issues, defend positions, negotiate proposals and look for agreements, learning to approach global challenges through cooperation and respect.
As secretary-general, the student will play a central role in the 2027 edition. The school notes that the appointment is a responsibility and also an opportunity for learning and personal growth, and that it opens a new stage of preparation alongside the other authorities and participants of the model.
For SEK-Ciudalcampo, the value of the experience lies in public speaking, critical thinking and the ability to listen to and understand other perspectives. Above all, the school says, it invites students to discover the value of dialogue and negotiation in building shared solutions.
The election comes in the same week that the school highlighted another long-running international programme: its exchange with Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, India, which students in the first year of Bachillerato have taken part in for more than a decade. As part of the exchange, students work with a school in a village near Mumbai and raise funds to support its pupils.
