POIO, 15 October 2026. SEK International School Atlántico, in Poio near Pontevedra, has been recognised by Microsoft as a Showcase School for the eighth consecutive year. The school announced the distinction yesterday, a day after reporting a second National eTwinning Quality Label for one of its projects.
Microsoft gives the Showcase School distinction to schools that stand out for educational leadership, innovation and the use of technology to improve learning. Showcase Schools form a global community of schools that share good practice and resources with one another. The badge published by the school reads "Microsoft Elevate Showcase School 2026-2027".
The school says the recognition is less a technology certificate than a validation of an approach in which technology serves learning, creativity and critical thinking. It credits teachers, students and management for keeping the distinction for eight years in a row, through new teaching methods, digital learning environments and projects that build skills students will need later in their studies and careers.
According to the school, the recognition has a direct effect on everyday learning: technology is a natural part of lessons and supports collaboration, communication, personalised learning and digital skills. Membership of the Showcase network also gives the school access to an international community of schools that share experiences, resources and strategies.
The second award is a National eTwinning Quality Label for the project "Hablemos claro: construyendo argumentos en red" ("Let's speak clearly: building arguments online"). eTwinning is the European platform for collaborative projects between schools. The project scored 23 points out of 25, with particular credit for collaboration, pedagogical approach, and results and dissemination.
Through the project, students worked on critical thinking, argumentative communication, teamwork, digital citizenship and the responsible use of technology. It is the school's second national eTwinning label of the 2025-2026 school year, after one awarded in June.
