The British College of Andorra (BCA) is an independent, English-medium, co-educational international school for children aged 3 to 18, located on a spacious rural hillside campus 10 minutes from Andorra la Vella in the parish of La Massana. The college is an IB World School, offering the English National Curriculum from Early Years Foundation Stage through Year 11 (with IGCSE qualifications in Years 10-11) and the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. The school is on the doorstep of the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley.

Educational principles

The school's stated educational principles centre on a BCA approach to High Quality Learning applied across EYFS, Primary and Secondary phases, the Approaches to Teaching and Learning from the IB DP framework, and the development of a culture of thinking in which students learn to understand that the way in which they approach their education and the mindset they bring with them each morning is crucial to their enjoyment as well as their academic success.

English is the language of instruction across BCA, with immersion supported by mother-tongue English speakers. From Primary, specialist subject teaching includes Spanish, French and Catalan, recognising the school's multilingual Andorran context. The college develops bilingual fluency in English alongside other languages. In the IB Diploma Programme, students can take Language A and Language B options from the IB's Studies in Language and Literature and Language Acquisition groups.

BCA is an IB World School delivering the IB Diploma Programme (IB school code 062176, authorised 03 May 2023). The IB DP follows the standard six-subject-group structure (Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, The Arts) plus the three core elements: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay and Creativity-Activity-Service (CAS). Prior to DP, students complete the English National Curriculum and Cambridge IGCSE qualifications in Years 10-11. BCA's secondary structure: KS3 (Years 7-9, English National Curriculum), KS4 (Years 10-11, IGCSE), Sixth Form (Years 12-13, IB DP). Year 13 opened in September 2024.

BCA runs an extensive after-school programme covering sports to board games, cooking to additional language lessons. The college is a registered centre for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, for students aged 14-24), with sections in Volunteering, Skills, Physical and Adventurous Journey. A Ski Programme runs one day a week during winter for each class, with qualified instructors, and a Secondary Clubs programme provides further enrichment opportunities.
