Tirana International School (TIS) is a private, co-educational, English-medium international school on the southern edge of Tirana, Albania, in the village of Mullet (Petrelë administrative unit). It was founded in 1991 by Quality Schools International (QSI), the non-profit network that still runs it, shortly after Albania emerged from decades of dictatorship, and in 2014 it moved to a purpose-built campus on a 5.5-hectare site. TIS takes children from the age of two through Secondary IV (Grade 12); its latest school profile reports 486 students from 38 nationalities, from diplomatic, international business and Albanian families. Teaching follows QSI's mastery learning model, with reading, writing and mathematics based on the US Common Core and North American and international standards. Secondary students can choose Advanced Placement courses and the AP Capstone Diploma, and since 2021 the school has also been an authorised IB World School offering the IB Diploma Programme. TIS has been accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) since 1999, belongs to the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) and is a founding member of the Tirana Association of International Schools. Small classes, Intensive English, a full-time counselling team and character education through the QSI Success Orientations are central to the school's approach.
