Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) was originally known as Kolej Methodist Sentul Campus. The Presidential Task Force set up by the Methodist Church in Malaysia in 1976, recommended that the character of Methodist Private Schools, which had provided a second chance for dropouts from the government system, be transformed, in order to provide quality education. Implementing such a proposal entailed identifying persons of calibre and dedication. To accept the challenge, Mrs F. R. Bhupalan, a well known educationist, responded to the call, and, with the assistance of Mr J.B. Vanniasingham as Director of Studies and Mr David Gunaratnam as Deputy Principal, Methodist College Brickfields was established. The College made its debut in January 1983 offering places for students from Form 1 to Form 5. Simultaneously GCE A-Level classes in Science and Arts were introduced. There were also the students of Methodist High School to be phased out. It was an arduous task coordinating three different types of curriculum under one roof with a mixed bag of teachers and limited resources. Its evolution into what it is today was a slow process.
