How would you rate Tunas Muda School (TMS)?
Tunas Muda is one of the schools in West Jakarta that provides an excellent IB curriculum with an amazing community, it helps to give students proper experiences and make them more independent. I was recommended this school by a friend when finding a school for my child's middle school years, and it's safe to say that Tunas Muda did not disappoint in helping her grow
The school boasts incredible learning experiences and fun for all their students, all the teacher were kind and helpful ensuring a positive learning environment. Highly recommend!
Had some of the most memorable years of my life during my time at TMS. Its somewhat of a bias for me as I spent pretty much all my childhood until high school at the school, but that was the case for me. I know not everyone feels this way, but I was lucky enough to experience a community such as one in TMS. It was then a smaller school, but it grew bigger closer to my graduation, which was good. Saw the changes in the school, some not too happy about (ie. the bigger the school the more distant it feels from one another), but a lot is actually something I'm happy about (ie. more non-academic activities, student council). The IB has never been an easy program. Still remember seeing ex-IB students making videos about how IB was so hard. But it was worth it when I got into my university years. All those time making those essays and presentations didn't go to waste. And its funny how literally all neighboring schools are now adopting the IB, means that I chose the right program when I got into TM. Really excited to see how the school is growing and looking forward to see familiar faces the next time I come visit.
What a wonderful school environment for our children. The school system is excellent and I love how they manage everything so organized. The IB curriculum is the best one for our kids to learn knowledge and grow with friends from different countries. The teachers, staff, security team, and helpers are excellent at supporting systems, they are experts in their skill areas. We are glad to choose TM as our children’s education foundation. We have enrolled our kids since Pre Primary until they graduated last year.
I think the school has done pretty well in adjusting with time. Academics used to always be the focus, but recently the school has put in effort for non-academics as well, letting students join competitions according to their interests. You can see the growth compared to years ago and as they're expanding their facilities at the moment, excited to see whats to come!
This is a Catholic school but it doesnt show, not disciplined at all, the kids talk bad word even the teachers have low quality. The school also causes bad traffic jam everymorning and every dismissal hours. The teachers dont have the good quality. They even hire the teacher that is have mental problem/ family issue. U can search it on the news online since it is a national issue. The father is a famous/ celebrity motivator (M*rio T*g*h). He even cannot teach. Keep on playing games with the girls in the class. But so mean to the boys. I think this is part of his mental issue with father/ man figure. Also there were some issues with the teachers, but they already terminate them. They have the IB curr which is good. But the practical is not done well. Mostly because the incapability of the new principal and also the quality of the teachers, especially the new ones. Because the turn over of the teaching staff is really high, so they just hire whoever apply to teach there without doing proper recruitment process. The school also dont have the facility. The worst part is the parking area. This school causes traffic jam every morning. The school is also located in the "deadly" route, small street, lots of intersection and bad traffic jam. It is even worst in the rainy day. U can reach the school at 8am even if u leave home at 6.30. This school also has toxic environment. The boys have long hair, but the school do nothing about it. Eventho they said it is said in the rule boys should have short hair, girls hqir should be tight up/ pony tail. None of them are applied to them. The management is really bad. Even if u call the admin, they dont usually answer and dont give clear answer. This because of lack of communication between the staffs. I dont recommend this school. If you are looking for IB school, u can go to IICS. Bigger school, good management, nice facility, religion based school, good teachers, good environment for kids. Or you can go to Mentari School/ BSJ for Cambridge Curr and Binus Simprug for IB Curr.
The IB curriculum is suited to my child learning style (active learning). Thus parents involvement in the journey is also playing an important role, especially in MYP and DP years. One last year for my child to finish in TM Meruya and it is the best choice I had ever made as a parent to provide the most suitable education for my child. Happy to be part of the community as well.
The school has very bad management, the teaching staff for Secondary are not competent,. The school causes traffic jams in the area, every time. If you are looking for an IB school, there are a lot better schools out there. TMS is more like national curriculum with tons of work.
The school has made it clear that most effort go into cultivating a nurturing environment. In a time when mental health seems to be the biggest issue, the school’s effort to provide a family feel and continuous improvement to the counselling services are much appreciated. Academically, the school is probably one of the better IB schools in all of Jakarta. Facilities can be improved but is very possible due to the massive land space around it.

This school causes exceedingly heavy traffic, its almost impossible to get through... Judging by the exterior it looks as if the school isnt maintained often enough, since 2019 it has looked rusty, dirty, and it looks small for a school that supposedly hosts kindergarden-year 12s
