How would you rate The International School of Penang (Uplands)?
My daughter has been a pupil at The International School of Penang (Uplands) since Year 1 and is now in Year 11. She has been nurtured academically, socially and emotionally by a team of dedicated teachers and has grown from a shy little girl to a confident, mature, internationally minded and respectful teenager. We were initially attracted to Uplands due to its wonderful reputation and long history on the island, but it’s the school’s PYP/ IB education that really makes it stand out.
An excellent education institution with a rich history.

As people have pointed out in previous posts, this place is racist. They got rid of streaming in Maths because the top set is all Chinese and Korean. There are much better schools. All my friends are taking their kids out. New place opening near Straits Quay looks much better.

Not a welcoming and conducive place for holistic international education - many teachers are simply not interested in your child's progress and were often downright rude and demeaning to Asian parents. Students relations can be very hierarchical and arrogant with bullying, discrimination and unhealthy practices being an open secret. My child and I were happy to have left after one very frustrating year.
