How would you rate British International School of Marbella (BISM)?
Teacher retention is awful, senior management spend more time outside the school smoking than working. Now I hear teachers are refusing to come in due to only being paid 35 euros a DAY! All the good teachers have left or are leaving, cant blame them.
Clueless management, but that would be ok if academic progress was there, but its not. Facilities are very poor, same as after school activities selection.
As parent, I had to remove my children from this school, mainly due to the revolving door of teaching staff. Regardless of what assurances the Headteacher gave about the stability of staff, this is completely false, as my children confirmed. My kids frequently told me of teachers coming and going throughout the term. My youngest child's teacher "left" during term. We were told that they had taken a job back in England and returned for family reason, however we bumped into the teacher, who looked bemused with what we told them. Although the teacher didn't say what happened, they made clear their contempt for the management. There is also a small number of parents that openly discuss "removing" teachers, on the parents WhatsApp group. This group is also a hot bed of malicious gossip, of a parent sleeping with the headteacher, despite his wife and child both working and attending the school. True or not, if these people are gossiping freely in WhatsApp groups,it is bound to passed onto their children and into school life. It gives reason for the high staff turnover, which is never the sihnof a decent school.
The management approach to the hiring process it tells a lot about the School services. My review is not about the teaching aspects of the school, but on the way managers have handled the interview process. I have received an email with interview invitation the day before for the day after. I was glad to be contacted by them and I moved all my next morning lessons just to be able to take the interview slot. During the interview, the connection was not great, but we managed. At the end they affirmed that they will send out an outcome in max one week time. Behind the positive or negative interview's outcome, the School did not contact me and they never replied to my follow up emails. I consider this a very disrespectful management behavior and behind all my expectations.
Very good school with excellent Teachers and a new Campus opening September 2020 which will make facilities best in the area.

Very good school! The best option in Marbella if you want ensure a bright future for your kids. All the students learn English and Spanish with the best international teachers. 5 stars!
