About The American Baccalaureate School (ABS)

At the American Baccalaureate School (ABS), we highly value the learning process and strive to offer our students access to the most current developments in Education. We work with partners and stakeholders to offer a wide variety of technology in the classroom, extracurricular activities, and a wonderful learning environment full of engagement.

Since ABS was opened in 2006 we have seen many great changes and expanded significantly in all aspects such as academic, social and character education, athletics and art.

Professional activities have been incorporated into every field and we put great emphasis upon building teachers’ skills to continue to develop their level of performance in the classroom which, in turn, gives students a wonderful learning environment full of engagement and meaningful work.

Throughout the school year we are continuing to build on and refine our solid foundation by having even more extracurricular activities and advanced professional development workshops to encourage our students to become more involved with school life.

The school is very unprofessional in terms of academics. Teachers are of low quality and the curriculum is not up to the average grade level. In middle school, the students are taught the curriculum of elementary, and in high school they are taught the curriculum of middle school. Administrators only care about a student’s grades and not their behavioral and academic growth and development. Trust me, I’m not exaggerating, but when I used to attend this school, the experience was horrid! We did not make any use of time and only wasted it by doing meaningless assignments all the time without even being taught a lesson. The book fairs are a disappointment. The only books that are displayed are kindergarten picture books and random toys, and there are no books for middle school and high school.

I do not really recommend this school if you are an education enthusiast. In fact, I do admit this school has potential for being somewhat great into improving a student's skills in life, however, I felt that this school's environment was biased insomuch as to induce an atmosphere of sheer nepotism and illogical favouritism. The elementary department is somewhat acceptable, though not of the best quality as mentioned in the school's official website, claiming to improve a student's skills in literacy and comprehension in such subjects. The same applies for the MSHS (Middle school and high school) department. The administration seem to care about a student's grades more than anything else. I felt that creativity did not matter in reality, and such images posted on the web are all a sham. In fact, the MSHS department does not include art and music subjects in the schedule. I proudly declare that this school does not appreciate students who think out of the box, hardly any attention paid to those who need maintenance into improving their abilities, for the point of education and learning itself is killed in this atmosphere. There is also a lot of bribing going on between students and teachers, and I haven't seen anybody who looks to resolving this problem. Not to mention that the school has a shortage of classrooms and teaching staff as well, which causes such uproar in the hallways and classrooms. In a nutshell, this school takes education for granted, only attention paid to the flaunting of other schools with students' so-called "academic" achievements.

I started teaching at ABS seven years ago. It has been a personal and professional growth experience. The staff and faculty have been very supportive and kind. I have been able to use the skills I went to University to accomplish. Working at ABS is a fulfilling experience in many ways. The enhancements provided are inviting and sufficient, such as housing, travel pay to home of origin and the experience of international teaching. Working at ABS will give you the experience of teaching in a foreign environment that would be an added consideration on your resume. I enjoy working at ABS and will continue for quite a few years in the future.
