About Qatar International School (QIS)
Qatar International School (QIS) is an English-speaking private day school located in Doha, the capital city of the State of Qatar. QIS was founded by the Owner Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani and the first Principal, Mrs Griffin in 1977, making it one of the first British schools in Qatar. From its very small beginnings 40 years ago it has now grown into one of the largest and most successful schools in the country with 1,900 students on role.
In 2001 the school moved to its current, purpose built campus in the Diplomatic Quarter of Dafna, adjacent to the impressive skyscrapers and business centre of West Bay. Here, under the ownership of the founder’s son Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Ahmad Al Thani, the school continues to thrive, expanding and developing its excellent specialist facilities, which include science laboratories, ICT suites, a swimming pool, playing field, and 2 large sports hall.
The school is led and managed entirely by British professionals and it strives to maintain the highest standards of the current English Education system, whilst also supporting its Arabic culture and international context. Children are taught in Key Stages from Early Years and KS1 through to KS5 and examinations are taken in GCSE, IGCSE and A Levels using UK examination boards. The vast majority of students leaving QIS move onto Higher Education in leading universities all over the world but most especially the UK, USA, Canada, UAE and Qatar itself. The vast majority of teaching staff are UK trained and the school prides itself on ensuring it keeps up to date with the best international practice in education and learning.
QIS recently became the first and only school in the Middle East to be accredited to deliver OLEVI training courses straight from the UK, such as The Outstanding Teacher’s Programme

How would you rate Qatar International School (QIS)?
Hello, I am a student at Qatar international school and the reason I gave it only a two-star rating for the teachers is that ever since I entered this school I have experienced some hard times with some of the teachers. Well honestly I don't pay much attention to all the other teachers anymore because I was really young when all of the other teachers were giving me hard times so I don't want to be mistaken but let me tell you the actual reason I am writing this review is that ever since I have entered 5th grade there was this teacher next door to my class and students call her Miss Gill but her full name is Kate Gill let me tell you all about it so, I have a teacher and when Miss Gills class has PE my teacher goes to teach them and miss Gill comes into my class to teach us and that's when she started being mean. I always ignored it because I'm already used but today she took this way too far ! she told us to write so I was writing until my pencil broke so I was sharpening it I was in my seat and I was still listening to the person that was answering miss Gill's question but then out of nowhere miss just said in a very rude tone and manner "DO YOU REALLY NEED TO BE DOING THIS RIGHT NOW?" I did want to say anything but the way she was looking at me got me mad really mad but I still stopped sharpening my pencil and got on with listening but when my teacher saw me he said: "Miss Gill wasn't really happy with you today she said you spent all lesson sharpening your pencil" then right after he said that I grew mad but didn't show it I just agreed then left. I know that Qatar International school can't really do anything with what I just said but if you can I really need you to try because I did not have a good experience.
Friendly and caring school with good academic results a d small pupil classes
