About Lycée International - American Section

Lycée International - American Section Paris, established just outside Paris over a half-century ago by Dwight D. Eisenhower, provides a comprehensive international education with a unique bilingual and bicultural approach for children ages 4 to 18.

Students learn from native English-speaking faculty in the American Section. They also follow a full French curriculum within the Lycée International de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a public institution which is regarded as one of France’s top schools. With 100% success on the prestigious OIB diploma (baccalauréat avec option internationale), our graduates go on to the world’s finest universities.

Students must speak fluent English to join the American Section. Children with limited French can join Français Spécial for one year of language immersion.

The Lycée is a vibrant international community comprised of fourteen international sections. All students are enrolled in a national section, and study together the national curriculum in French. While French is the common language, every section’s language and culture is equally valued, so in a way the Lycée International is a blend of many international schools. The result is a true multilingual, multicultural experience, with friendships that span the globe and last a lifetime.

We've been very happy during our 8 years with the American Section at the Lycée International. I'm pleased my children can learn about American culture in France. The community is kind and supportive. The teachers do all they can to individualize the lessons to those who are struggling. It's a caring environment. Parents volunteer a lot to help celebrate American holidays. My husband volunteers as a coach in soccer, which is our favorite sport. We're happy to enjoy another 4 years in this community.

The teachers and staff truly care for the children and are fully committed to teaching them the English language and American culture.

This school was the perfect place for my three children. Not only did it give them an excellent French education, they also received a fabulous American education, and are now perfectly bilingual and bicultural. They were able to integrate top North American universities effortlessly. The international aspect of the Lycée is a huge plus, as is the emphasis placed on American culture and traditions in the American Section.

I'm a parent in the American Section, which we chose after exhaustive research in both the Paris area and more broadly in France. It's a unique combination of native English-language instruction and a full French education at the (public) Lycee International - a winning combination. School consistently ranks among France's top 10. Main building on main campus completely redone in 2019. State-of-the-art gym, sports fields, climbing wall.

An amazing international high School in western Paris. Excellent teaching with an unique setup on the middle of a greeny campus. Very Very selective but worth studying there if admited.

I have 2 children, both went FS programs. It was very intense. Very nice teacher and 14 sections, it was very good.

I liked being on this school but the only downside is that the buildings are old. Otherwise, the lessons were very good and the cantine was amazing. Edit: The school was recently renovated.

The worst way to select and to be selected in this famous high school, and maybe it is only because of being famous to betray...
