K is just a joke! We communicated with K about 2023 admission for our two kids through f2f visit, phone call and emails from Nov 2022 to Feb 2023. We explained our situation in every details and consulted with their advice. The staff no matter they are Japanese or native English teachers were positive to our application and encouraging us to apply for the school. When we formally submitted our application in Jan 2023, they rejected it without any test and interview. We asked why you didn’t tell us earlier when we looked for your advice. They said they couldn't make any final decision regardless of what they said to us earlier and emphasized the application fee is not refunded. This is CHEATING! We have kept communicating with the school for 4 months and no one said no. Just let us know if you want to make money. ASHAMED! We shared our experience in order to remind you to watch out if you want to apply for this school.

One of the best schools for IB studies in Japan. Facilities are need of updating, but seems they are building a new campus.

We have had our child at this school from elementary to secondary. The quality of educational experience has decreased with every year. The school increases tuition each year, yet offers fewer options for extracurricular activities. The teachers and principals are somewhat empathetic and seem to acknowledge and care about the deterioration of the school and quality of education. The governing body of the school is dismissive and at times rude to parents seeking explanation as to the vision of the school and even the safety of students in emergency situations during the current situation.

Dear Parents, I am one of the first members of the school since it was opened and my daughter was attending the school for two years. The pitch was great...about how the families and small communities are important, and how they want to create a supportive and understanding community, and how they aim to be different to other International Schools, where parents are not heard. I was in heaven hearing that but very soon I realized that they say what you want to hear. In short, they have charged me unlawful interests 5% for 2 days delayed payment (they didn't prorate it) and the agreement didn't specify it - they do what they want to do, but the REAL "friendly and so understanding" treatment I got when I had to sign a contract for a 2nd year. I am a single mom and we were in the middle of lockdown, they have forced me to sign the contract and pay. When I initially refused to sign, because I was uncertain of my situation they told me to withdraw my daughter (the current contract was fully paid). I didn't want to fight and stress over it so I signed, and I thought I will accept the interests and will pay 1 month later but they have removed my daughter from ongoing HBL and from the contract that was PAID because I didn't pay in time (charging me again interests). That was illegal action and the ONLY reason I  didn't take legal action was...my daughter and a lot of different stresses I had at that time. She had friends there, she was happy and I didn't want to destroy it but I will never forget the sleepless nights and stress they served me and humiliation, I felt like they blackmail me knowing my situation and their advantages. I hid my pride and decided to stay for her but what I discovered later after a conversation with some other parents was that is their standard practice, so beware. TThey are rude, they lie, they are 2 faced and they don't have values and working ethic. The quality of education and their help in teaching my daughter language was good at that time, my daughter made great progress but I paid for that more than the monthly fee, I was paying more than 20k per year ) including ECA's and ESL so I couldn't understand their arrogance and lack of appreciation for my support and belief in them, sending my child to the school without any reputation when they were new.But this is just the beginning...it gets even "better". This year unaware of big changes in the school management I have signed up and paid for the next academic year but the sequence of the events changed my decision. I was very concerned about the lack of communication and anonymous e-mails I was getting from the school. Lack of transparency and the way they were trying to conceal certain things made me take up the decision to leave the school as well as many other parents. I just simply didn't want to deal with those people and didn't believe them, I sent the request of withdrawal due to their negligence and contract breach, and fundamental changes I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR

My son absolutely loved his experience at this school attending it with motivation, enthusiasm, a big smile on his face and lots of new learnings in his mind every day. K International School Tokyo is a school that aspires to high standards, and is also a place where the unique qualities of each student is nurtured and developed. School integrates compassion into the teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each of the classes and activities. The management is also great - attentive and responsive. I highly recommend it! Thank you, K International School for making our 3 years stay in Tokyo even more pleasant.

My son joined K. International in Junior High School after returning from 4 years in Canada. Since the curriculum at KIST is all IB, it is very academic oriented, which I feel was a positive change for my son. Yet the school still offers a variety of clubs and sports team to help develop well rounded students. KIST is excellent at communicating with parents/guardians, keeping you well informed as to what is taking place at the school and provides a supportive environment for all. The parents’ organization is also very welcoming and supportive of both the school program and the students school life. During the 2019/20 school year, we experienced a worldwide pandemic which forced KIST to close its doors and turn to online schooling. The handling of this situation, the communication provided and the swift adjustment to a very rigorous and thorough online schedule, was particularly impressive. I have no hesitation to recommend KIST to anyone looking for an international education for your child in Tokyo.

Honestly it wasn’t that bad back in the day when the campus was in Higashi-Suna, it had a pool and everything. As they moved to their current campus the school started to value itself as a business to make money rather than educate and care about its students. One of the most recent examples is that they have increased school fees and asks parents to pay more so that they’re able to afford to build a new school building. The demolition of their current building was supposed to start last summer “no matter what” as per the admin team. However nothings been done. Therefore, you’re being scammed. In addition to that just look at the other reviews, the one star rated ones have like 50+ likes and the higher ratings have almost no likes, tells you the real story.

Hi. This is a response to your response. I appreciate your response, I am doing perfectly fine at the University of Sydney. I would like to suggest you to take a more in-depth look into why KIST is not the best fit for all students and families. I think a school should be a safe place for all students, to promote inclusivity and diversity. It is hard to believe that KIST has a diverse environment(as they claim) when they only allow students and families that align with their specific values and academic goals. Best of Wishes, Zac

A school with terrible administration and corrupt mindset. They only think about grades, does not care about kid's welfare. Bad Wifi.
