About Internationella Engelska Skolan Nacka (IES)
Internationella Engelska Skolan Nacka aims to have all students fully bilingual when they leave us after year 9 and we teach both in English and in Swedish. IES Nacka opened in the Autumn of 2010 with 11 classes in years 6-9. The school has today 5 classes in each year group, years 4-9.
Mrs Barbara Bergström, a science teacher from the USA, founded Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) in 1993. She saw the need to improve education in Sweden, and set out three major convictions which have defined life in our schools ever since; s safe and orderly school environment where teachers can teach and students learn, command of English and high academic expectations and aspirations.
