International School of Tianjin (IST) students, faculty, staff, board of governors, administration, and the entire IST community are committed partners in making our school a friendly place where the needs of students come first. Our entire community works together, learns together and acts together for our common future.
IST is firmly established as one of the premier international schools in China and as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorized to teach all three IB programs (Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma) we provide a comprehensive and coherent written curriculum based upon the highest academic standards. As a school we use the mission of the IB and the philosophy of IST to guide our deliberations and actions, and to ensure that our children develop the attitudes and dispositions of true internationalists prepared for the challenges and wonders of life beyond our school.
At our school we view our commitment to internationalism as a responsibility shared by all of our community members, be they our highly motivated students, our talented and skilled teaching faculty and support staff, or our caring and supportive parent community. Our school is also fortunate to have a wonderfully committed Parent Faculty Organization and a volunteer parent Board of Governors, whose synergistic efforts are a hallmark of our strong community spirit. We welcome you to telephone, email, or visit us at your convenience to find out a little more about why we are so proud of our school.
The International School of Tianjin (formerly TEDA International School, Tianjin) opened the doors of a converted downtown Tianjin villa to some 20 children in Grades 1 to 4 on 5 September 1994. In 2001 IST relocated to purpose built facilities on a 7.2-hectare campus in Weishan Lu in the city’s southeast. Student enrollment currently averages between 400 and 500 students.
