British International School Lagos (BISL), first established in 2001, is a co-education independent international school located in the Nigerian city of Lagos. The school was founded with the intention of providing a British-style international education to students aged 11-18, both to local Nigerians and the children of expatriates. The school resides on a 30-acre site and accepts both day and boarding pupils. The curriculum at BISL is arranged in a manner typical of a British school with students divided up into Key Stages. Children begin their studies at key Stage 3, before moving on to Key Stage 4 after two years where they begin their studies for IGCSE exams at age 16.
In 2016, British International School Lagos opened its own sixth form, which now allows students to continue their studies to age 18, where they study for the British A-level qualifications, with the school offering a huge range of subject choices including German language studies. The curriculum at BISL is well supported by a range of modern academic and recreational facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped library, a basketball court, and an extensive modern residential area providing boarding to a large proportion of the school’s students.
