About Barcelona High School (BHS)
Founded in 2020, Barcelona High School (BHS) is a non-traditional, innovative, American school academy start-up, located in the center of Barcelona Spain, easily accessible by all modes of transportation.
The academics consist of accredited US curriculum courses taught in native English. AP courses are also available if students want courses equivalent to International Baccalaureate (IB) or A levels, although they are not mandatory.
Academic learning is supplemented with STEAM education principles through social and creative activities, group projects, international speakers, coding techdegree certificate courses, and much more to help students increase their emotional intelligence while simultaneously expanding their opportunities and finding their passions in life.
Students receive an official American High School Diploma from USA when they complete 12th grade, which allows them to attend English speaking international universities throughout the world, including in Spain, the UK and throughout Europe, as well as in USA or Canada, through the BHS university placement program.
Also, many student athletes choose Barcelona High School due to its flexible school hours and to help them obtain athletic scholarships to universities in the US.

How would you rate Barcelona High School (BHS)?
Barcelona High School is the best international school in Barcelona. The school offers more individual attention to each student than traditional schools. The teachers and staff are so friendly and professional. The students are all very happy to attend school here. I hope they expand into more locations and grade offerings soon! The director of the school fosters such a welcoming environment for all, so the students are all able to learn free from the distractions of social hierarchies common in many high schools. 10/10

Dear Mr. Akida and the great team at BHS. I would like to leave my sincere testimony of my own experience with BHS. We have faced some difficulties leading with my daughter’s different schools issues owning to our moving into several countries, for my and her good luck we reached BHS by recommendation of a friend. Since then i lost my worries about my daughter, me and all the family noticed how far better she became, not only at school, but her behavior her personality and self confidence. I’m more then satisfied, I’m Amazed. Thank you Akida, thank you all BHS team. May God Bless you Hassan K. Dia

I am a student in BHS and I can say with certainty that this was the best decision I have ever made in terms of my academic journey. I am currently studying online and Amanda, Akida and the rest of the staff are super supporting and always attend anyone who needs help.

My son was in 9th grade at BHS while we lived in Spain, and while we chose the online option, and it was his first year doing online school, I would choose it again! Akida and the whole staff and teachers are incredibly supportive. You are joining a community that wants to see your child succeed and takes time to learn about their dreams and goals. Akida's first conversation with my son was to ask him where he wanted to go to college and truly the whole school year was setup for him to stay motivated and do exceptionally well so he can achieve that goal.They are all about learning not just teaching to a test. My son became a complete independent learner, it was amazing to see him take full responsibility for his learning, which is how college will be, so he's getting great practice already. The support we received from Amanda, one of the teachers, was incredible, she would send personal messages checking on our son and making sure if he needed anything, as he was applying to high schools in the US. We have since moved back to the US, but he took an entrance exam for the #1 high school in California, ranked nationally 25 and he got accepted! I truly believe he did well and was prepared because of all the work he did at BHS with essay writing and math. He will be attending school in the US now but if we were still living in Spain, I would have kept him at BHS!

I used the techniques from Barcelona High School to help with writing an essay for a scholarship. And I just want to tell you Thank You for helping me on my scholarship paper. I received the presidential leadership scholarship and the money will help me out quite a bit. Im so excited to start my new journey. -CJ
